Winona lake is stocked each spring with rainbow trout by the Fish and Game department. It also has in abundance of small mouth bass, chain pickerel, perch and smelt. Boating is allowed on the lake but jet skis are not allowed. You can water ski, sail, and tube. It is part of the watershed that connects Lake Winnipesaukee, the states largest lake. The lake exits into the Snake River, which goes into Lake Waukewan. From there, it goes into Lake Winnipesaukee. A dam on Lake Waukewan controls the water levels in both Winona and the Snake River.
