Lake Sunapee Real Estate

Lake Sunapee or “Soo-Nipi” as it was known to the Algonquins is a picturesque glacial lake that has been enchanting visitors since well before the advent of the automobile. Lake Sunapee became a true destination when the B & M railroad first started offering service to Newbury on the south end of the lake. The lake itself is over 8 miles long with 70 miles of pristine shoreline and 8 islands. One of the unique aspects of Lake Sunapee is that you have five quaint towns that border her shoreline. These towns include Georges Mills, Newbury, Sutton, Springfield and Sunapee. Public access is available in many of the towns for boating, sailing and fishing and if you don’t have your own boat the M/V Kearsarge offers a guided tour of the entire lake that is highly recommended. Lake Sunapee like Squam lake has remained true to it’s roots and has kept development at a minimum. If you arrive looking for chain stores and restaurants you won’t find them here and that is just the way the residents like it.
