Lake Winnisquam is located in Belknap County and is the 4th largest lake in New Hampshire. It is 10.5 miles long, 1.5 miles wide at its widest point and has a maximum depth of 170 ft. It is fed primarily by Lake Winnipesaukee. There is no boating access between the two lakes. Water flows out of Winnisquam into to Winnipesaukee River and then flow to the Merrimack River. There are two sections of Winnisquam that are separated by a bridge on routes 3 and 11. One is on the north side of the bridge and the other smaller section is on the south side. There is very good fishing in the lake. It has both warm and cold water fish. The cold water fish are many kinds of trout; brook rainbow, brown and lake. There is also landlocked salmon and Whitefish. The warm water fish include small and largemouth bass, pickerel, horn pout, white perch, northern pike, yellow perch, walleye, black crappie, and bluegill. On the South end of the lake you are very close to I93 and the very popular Tanger outlet mall and a lot of other shopping in that area. There are several good restaurants within the Tilton Mall and in that same vicinity of exit 20 off I93. From here you can reach both Concord South and Exit 23 heading into Meredith in about 20 minutes.
